Serge Ouaknine – theater director, artist, writer and university lecturer, participant in numerous cross-art projects. He studied at the Paris Ecole nationale supérieure des Arts Décoratifs and the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw in 1966, he joined the team of the Laboratory Theater in Wrocław. His quest has opened him to researches in the fields of directing, painting and intercultural events at the frontier of the visual arts and theater. He has already released 40 theater opus, 1 opera and the concept of 2 major fireworks in the sky of Paris. He is the author of numerous plays and film scripts, a collection of poems, a collection of short stories and about 250 academic publications. He has conducted workshops on art and theater in France, Canada, USA, Morocco, Mexico, Argentina, Brazil, Colombia and Israel. He is also an expert in the field of multi-lingual events toward the concept of a “nomadic theater”. In 2009 he was awarded the “Medal of Cultural Merit” for his artistic and academic achievement which contributed to the knowledge of Polish culture and the creative process of Jerzy Grotowski.
