Théâtre de l'homme ivre
Performance: Marie

This work confronts the practice of corporeal mime according to Etienne Decroux and Thomas Leabhart with another perspective which reads the theatre stage as a net of relations (with space, time, reality, trajectory, oneself). Utterance and memory are the ground of Marie, where a woman tries to tell and gather herself. Here the point is not what she says but the very gesture of saying and its actual process. It is not an autobiography, rather a spiritual path. This figure is structured by borrowing from Büchner’s and Walser’s characters (Marion from Danton’s Death and Marie) and is inspired by elements of popular Easter rituals.

Choreography and acting: Marie-Geneviève L’Her
Directed by Jean-François Favreau
Duration: 40’

Théâtre de l’homme ivre works between Paris, Lavauzelle (Creuse, France) and Wroclaw. To create this performance, the company has been hosted by the Grotowski Institute, Henryk Tomaszewski Pantomime Theatre in Wroclaw and LaMétive.

The Rite of Spring

Dir. Pina Bausch

Running time: 52’
A recording of Pina Bausch’s watershed production. In 1975 Pina Bausch presented her own vision of The Rite of Spring, Igor Stravinsky’s famous ballet. The peat-covered stage becomes the scene of a fierce, exhausting fight ending in a sacrificial offering.
