Flaszen, co-founder of the Laboratory Theatre, arrives in Wrocław, wanders through the city in Grotowski’s footsteps and reminisces about his friendship and collaboration with the director. His account of the two men’s shared passions and artistic research is interspersed with footage of theatre performances, television programmes, documentaries and previously unpublished archive photographs. “The film is a documentary essay”, says Małgorzata Dziewulska, essayist and theatre director, for whom Grotowski ← Flaszen marks her debut as a film director. “It contains a minimum of historical background and is more of a reflection on the power of Grotowski’s ideas and their relevance today. I wanted to touch a great mystery without passing judgment or offering glib answers. ![]() |
