Who, after all, speaks today of the annihilation of the Armenians?

Adolf Hitler, 22 August 1939,
according to reports received by the Associated Press bureau chief in Berlin, Louis Lochner

Teatr ZAR wishes to open a window to address the history of Armenia. Through the voices of respected scholars from around the globe on the subject of Armenian history, culture and politics, we wish to enter into a two-day exchange concerning the history on the Armenian people and their deportation and extermination at the beginning of the 20th century, the history of Europe’s silence that accompanies its memory, and a reflection on the act and inheritance of witnessing.

In addition to these reflective meetings and debates people will have the unique opportunity to work with Aram Kerovpyan, master singer of the Armenian Cathedral of Paris and leader, together with Virginia Kerovpyan, of the work on Armenian monophonic and modal singing in Teatr ZAR’s new project. The company will open the doors towards their performance project “Armine, Sister” and share their creative intuitions for the new work. This event sets the ground for the upcoming VoicEncounters event in spring 2013, which will have at its core the cultural heritage of Armenia and its diaspora.
