Exhibition of photographs by Magdalena M±dra 8–20 November, 10am–4pm Opening of exhibition: 8 November, 7pm CaféTHEA, Przej¶cie ¯ela¼nicze 4 Admission free The photographs on display are just a small selection from the one thousand photos evoking Anatolia in July 2012 as experienced by members of Teatr ZAR, Aram, Virginia and Vahan Kerovpyan, Altuğ Yılmaz, accompanied on their journey by a Belgian film crew and local guides. During their six-day expedition the group visited places that until 1915 had been inhabited by Armenians, including the remains of the towns of Palu and Harput and the ruins of Armenian temples in villages and towns bustling with everyday life. After meeting the inhabitants of Turkish settlements and listening to their stories, the group visited the Dersim region inhabited by Kurds, especially by Zaza, among them traditional singers and storytellers called the Dengbesh. The travellers, listening to silence amid the undercut columns of the destroyed churches, sang the songs of these places out of respect and in remembrance of those who were forced to leave here. |
