Led by Raúl Iaiza (Regula contra Regulam Teatro, Italy) and Dawid ¯akowski (Sztuka Nowa, Poland) Mon-Sun 13–19 May Brzezinka, the forest base of the Grotowski Institute Creative work in this session will focus on La Douleur by Marguerite Duras. Participants must read this text before the session and, if possible, bring a copy of La Douleur in their native language. The fee includes accommodation and food. It does not include travel to and from Wroc³aw. Open session work programme Working sessions will be held every day from 9am to 1pm, and from 3pm to 7pm. Individual sessions will be held at different times according to the development of the work. The work will be complemented by work demonstrations, video screenings and lectures, which will take place in the evenings. Languages: English and Italian Physical Training - plastics - dynamic–impulse relation - rhythmic body - actor’s acrobatics Vocal Training - breathing and vocal emission techniques - physical resonators - vocals, dynamic and agogic Singing - monodic and choral singing - chironomia - pitch and modulation - voice–movement–space relationship Creative Work - improvisation and dynamic use of space - composition exercises - actor’s composition and dramaturgy - creative pathway - techniques of montage The work will culminate in the demonstration of a final montage based on the proposed text. Requirements Comfortable work-wear for strenuous work (spare T-shirts) and a knee-pad (volleyball-like). Each actor should prepare an extract from La Douleur by Marguerite Duras and a song related to the work. Each actor must bring an elegant costume, complete with shoes. Actors who play a musical instrument are requested to bring it.
