The workshop will be conducted in English and French.

From elements of our actor training (based on the analysis of body articulation leading to “plastic” work, alone or in pairs, and on vocal practice starting with the exploration of individual qualities and developing towards polyphonic work), we will slowly create a lexicon of actions. This will give us the opportunity to work on a relation based on different grounds than familiar social communication, and then on listening and dynamics, so that the combination of the two elements can lead to the emergence of a unified form.

Théâtre de l’homme ivre (Drunken Man Theatre) is the result of a meeting between Marie-Geneviève L’Her (physical theatre actress and pedagogue, former assistant of Thomas Leabhart) and Jean-François Favreau (actor and director of musical theatre, former member of Teatr ZAR, Theater TANTO in Vienna and Alexis Forestier’s les endimanchés). The group continues the work of La Machine theatre company, which was formed in Paris in 1999. The company has created three performances loosely based on the work of Witold Gombrowicz, Georg Büchner and Robert Walser, and collaborates with In Medias Res ensemble on Lessons of Darkness, a programme inspired by the singing dramaturgy of the Holy Week.
The company members draw inspiration from traditional cultures and practices they encounter on their travels to Mediterranean and Slavic countries. One of their performances, Marie, was created in 2011 at the Grotowski Institute. Since then, Théâtre de l’homme ivre has been the resident theatre company at the Site for Theatre Practices Lavauzelle.
