Composed of thirteen episodes/scenes with no common narrative thread, this piece by Tadeusz Kantor, inspired, among other things, by the song “Our Little Town is Burning” by Mordechai Gebirtig, is a séance of individual and collective memory. Slightly different visually from The Dead Class, it heralds Kantor’s later Death Theatre work, particularly Wielopole, Wielopole and I Shall Never Return. It premiered in 1979 at Palazzo delle Espozisioni in Rome.
