The various forms of Maisternia’s activity include:
- Work on Ukrainian traditional songs and irmoses – songs derived from Orthodox liturgy (as Kovalevich writes, ‘irmos is a sung fresco-icon’)
- Constant development of an original methodology for work on song, in which singing serves as a form of spiritual cultivation of tradition
- Recognition of new artistic currents in Ukraine, in the fields of singing, composition, dramaturgy and directing
- Conducting workshops, organising festivals and seminars dedicated to singing, instrumental music, theatre and the word (both nationally and internationally)
- Collaboration with masters, including the collective gathering of experiences, and the etablishment of a methodology for sharing work
- Research expeditions, aimed at preserving the relics of traditional culture – songs, instruments, stories, as well as collaboration with folk performers
- Organising concerts of artists whose work is rooted in traditional music
- Producing theatrical performances, CDs, and printed and video materials
