Mateusz Kanabrodzki

graduated from the Department of Theatre Studies, State Theatre School, Warsaw (now Theatre Academy) and is a lecturer in the Faculty of Polish Studies (Institute of Polish Culture, Section of Theatre and Performance), University of Warsaw, where in 2002 he completed his doctoral thesis entitled The Material and Corporeal Element in the Work of Georg Büchner, Witold Gombrowicz, Miron Bia³oszewski and Helmut Kajzar. His MA thesis on children’s games and their theatrical reception, “Dzieciêcy jêzyk teatru,” was published by Towarzystwo Kultury Teatralnej (£ód¼, 1997). He won an award in the Play for Young Audiences Competition organized by the Children’s Art Centre in Poznañ and received a scholarship from the Foundation for Polish Science. He has contributed to magazines including Dialog, Teatr, Didaskalia and Wiê¼. His work focuses on the anthropology of performance, with special emphasis on the intersection of the gaze, the body and the voice.
