The Song of Songs

1. The principle of the resource
International Art Resource «The Song of Songs» is based on the principles of theatre observatory. Creative centre of the Resource and its work material is the biblical text «The Song of Songs». The field of text, its embodiment in different cultures, Old Slavonic and other language recensions, and in the first place the Word itself as Sacred define the unique connection of image and art form of its embodiment. The work with Art Resource may take different forms: singing, work on text, dance, performance, cinema, organization etc., thereby it defines personal intention of artist in compliance with the Image of the «Song of Songs», and actualizes its personal knowledge as Love, Serving and Art, which are put into art form.

2. «The Song of Songs» is professional project-resource, assigned for people, who have chosen theatre as a way of development, not only as school, but also as artistic space, where it is possible to set practical questions about purpose of theatre, about connection of a human being and knowledge: new resource as possibility of impossible.

3. The uniqueness of the Resource relates to the problems of word and voice. Perhaps anything else besides the voice does not pass the quality of consciousness and its perspectives. For the modern world which is conditioned by the information environment and which risks in principle to lose the notion of word and voice as a natural way of connection between human being and God, human being and world and another one – it is one of the possibilities of development and education.

4. Each session is a gathering of the whole Resource, dedicated to a certain art theme or question.

5. In strict sense of the word we can call ‘Resource’ only that what carries in itself the quality of Image, which takes off boundaries of national distinction, this what can be opened in access in other culture, that what can be perceived and assimilated by another person.

6. By this quality the Resource differs from master-class or workshop. The resource primarily assumes that what participant proposes for common work.

7. The 7th session is focused primarily on theatre work, on practical problems of the relationship of actor / person with the cultural models of view, actors' grounds for the performance.

8. Project-resource «The Song of Songs» is realized with the support of:

9. In some expense items project-resource is on self-financing of participants.

10. Work will be developed according to four directions:
- Work with body, physical training and elements of traditional techniques of kalarippayattu;
- Work with voice and song;
- Work with word and text;
- Work on dramatic situation and actor’s techniques.

12. Requirements.
The session of Resource starts from presenting the material of personal work by participants and common watching/listening to sent work materials. Participant should be able to “stand up” the personal work from the point of the theme of session.
Further work of participant at the session will proceed in accordance with that what he/she proposed.

That is necessary to know the text «The Song of Songs» (+ 1 chapter by heart), but participant can work also with another text, in compliance with the theme of the «Song of Songs» and reconciled beforehand with the director of the Resource.
Participants should also know 3 songs (of any genre), which have relation to the text and to the theme of session.

Each participant should have digital and printed versions of the text «The Song of Songs», other texts with which he works and texts of songs. These texts should be in native language, and have word-for-word translation to English.  

For the presentation actors should have costume:
for actress:     
        a) 2-3 dresses for going out to the stage.
        b) shoes
        c) cloak, hat, and optional – accessories.

for actor:   
         a) jacket
        b) several shirts, including white one
        c) shoes
        d) cloak, hat, and optional – accessories.

Costume must be not theatre one, it presupposes the possibility of domestic action.

Also each one should have:
1.    clothes for training (it also should have aesthetic quality): girls: skirt, or better “heavy” skirt from cloth; men: loose pants. 
2.    for girls and men: clothes for physical training and shoes for exercises in forest.

Languages: English, Polish, Ukrainian
The number of participants is limited: 16 people.

Participants will be selected on the basis of application forms – applications and creative propositions presented in video, audio, photo.

FEE
300 EUR for participants, which includes lodging and food.

INFORMATION
The work-session will take place at the dates: September 29 – October 10.
The work starts on September 29, so participants gather in Brzezinka on September 28.
October 10 - is the last day of work. And on October 11 early morning we clean and leave Brzezinka.
