Le Théâtre de l'homme ivre [Drunken Man theatre]

Le Théâtre de l'homme ivre puts the art of the actor at the centre of its process.

In Chinese and Indian culture, the Drunken Man is the name of an elaborate technique. It demands a release that is gained through an utmost sobriety and a perfect control of the balance - metaphor of the actor’s work.

Le Théâtre de l’homme ivre, created in 2006 in Paris, prolongs the work of La Machine Theatre Company, co-founded by Jean-François Favreau and Marie-Geneviève L’Her in 1999.

Le Théâtre de l’homme ivre has directed a workshop during 2 years at La Générale (Paris), organised a work session at WUK (Vienna), 2 research expeditions in Corsica, led physical theatre and corporeal mime based workshops (Paris, Luxembourg), and presented its work in France and Belgium.

It is supported by SPT [Site of theatre Practices] Lavauzelle and the Grotowski Institute.

Site de pratiques théâtrales [Site of theatre practices] Lavauzelle

Located in a hamlet in one of the most rural areas of central France, la Creuse, the Site of theatre practices Lavauzelle is a place for creation, residencies and pedagogy. Situated at the doorstep between traditional and cultural world, at the frontier of a wild forest, it is a resource centre connecting the theatre practice and history with a peculiar situs. Welcoming inputs from different cultures and practices, it aims to confront them to a strong and often ignored patrimony and heritage (musical, architectural, natural, cultural…) and a social environment. Its studio space, located in a barn, is to be opened in summer 2011.
